Mapping Marine Habitats: Shaping a Net Zero Future!
91ÊÓƵÍø Shetland's Marine Spatial Planning team were thrilled to attend the Shetland Climate Festival on Saturday 14 June.
Marine scientist, Tanya Riley, launched a policy brief and delivered an informative presentation on the crucial role that marine habitats play in achieving net zero in Shetland. The policy brief details the types of blue carbon habitats present in Shetland, their contributions to carbon capture and storage, and the current and future areas of research involving habitat mapping and modelling for conservation and restoration in Shetland.
It was an incredible opportunity to share our expertise and engage with the community on how our incredible marine environments can help combat climate change.
