Student Blog: Jacob, HNC Sports Coaching and Development
From Sports and Fitness Level 6 to our HNC Sports Coaching and Development, we spoke to student Jacob about his journey with us.
Hi Jacob, can you start by telling us what made you apply and why was this course right for you?
I chose 91ÊÓƵÍø Moray because it is local and the subjects in the course was something I was interested in and would benefit me massively as a current volunteering coach.
How do you feel this course has developed your knowledge, skills and overall experience?
I have gained a lot of knowledge and experience through the course of how coaching works with stuff like knowing yourself, others , methods , delivery and legislation within clubs. The course has also gave me great opportunities in gaining qualifications for different sports such as handball, boccia , first aid and mental health first aid .
The 2 classes I have been involved with over the past 2 years have all been a great bunch to be with and some will be friends for life.
How did you find the support you received from your tutors and lecturers?
I love the support I receive from lectures. All my lectures are all very easy to talk to and understand me very well which is really appreciated
Where would you like to go with your career in the future?
Not thinking too much into the future but once I’ve finished my degree I’ll see where I am and want to do next.
The ideal career path would be to be involved in a football club as a coach, probably the youth category or community coaching. However, that’s not guaranteed to work out so a career in anything that involves coaching I would be happy with.
What are the highlights of studying at 91ÊÓƵÍø Moray?
It’s a big campus with good resources and opportunities
Lastly, what advice would you give to anyone considering studying at 91ÊÓƵÍø Moray?
Enjoy it whilst you’re doing it and take all the opportunities given to you
If you are interested in a career that involves working people of all ages to motivate, coach, rehabilitate and improve sporting performance, then our courses are for you.
