Traditional Construction Skills Day

47 pupils from Lochgilphead Joint campus joined us on 13th June to take part in the Annual Traditional Construction Skills day hosted at our Construction Centre in Lochgilphead.

The event, which was funded by Historic Environment Scotland, and organised by Argyll and Bute Council’s Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme (CARS), DYW and 91ÊÓƵÍø Argyll, allowed pupils to get hands on practical experience of a range of building skills and workshops included:

  1. Brickwork, hosted by 91ÊÓƵÍø Argyll
  2. Traditional Roofing, hosted by Noremac Argyll Ltd
  3. Joinery, hosted by MacLeod Construction Ltd
  4. Plumbing, hosted by A&C Building Contractors Ltd.

The aim of the day is to introduce young people to the range of career options in the construction industry and help address the national skills shortage in this sector.
