91ÊÓƵÍø Inverness student designs new branding for Inverness Town House
A design by a 91ÊÓƵÍø Inverness student has been chosen as the new official logo for Inverness Town House.
The logo by Ryan MacLeod, a Visual Communication student, will appear as the new branding for Inverness Town House as part of a drive to market the historic building and enhance its profile.

Ryan and his classmates were tasked with a client project to consider options for an updated design to represent the Town House that reflected its heritage and prominence.
Inverness and Area Provost, Glynis Campbell Sinclair, visited the class on a number of occasions along with senior council officers to give feedback as their work progressed. She selected Ryan's design as the winner and visited the 91ÊÓƵÍø Inverness campus to make presentations to everyone in the class and to thank them for their hard work.

Ryan said: “After I found out I had won it took some time for me to process what it meant. The idea of something I made being used to represent such a historic building is an amazing thought. But it was when my lecturer explained that it had the potential to represent it for so many years to come that it began to sink in. I can hardly begin to explain how much that means to me at this point.
“I went into the logo project initially thinking it was going to be like any of our other lectures, but that quickly changed as I got to both have a tour of the building and work with the Provost and City Manager to try and create something that they wanted to represent the city, the building, and the businesses that would be based there. The experience I gained from going through that process felt so valuable as it gave someone like me a chance to see what this kind of work would feel like in a professional setting.
“Going through the semester we were informed of the chance of one of our works being chosen, but my lectures were filled with so many talented people I didn't want to think about anything more than just trying to make something that the people from the Town House would like.”
Councillor Glynis Campbell Sinclair said: “I am delighted that the Inverness Common Good Fund has been able to support a design competition among the students at 91ÊÓƵÍø Inverness to create an official logo for the Inverness Town House. Several workshops were held with students over a period of six months, resulting in a short leet and a final design selected by 91ÊÓƵÍø Inverness and myself.
“I congratulate the winner Ryan MacLeod and all the other students who took part in the competition which not only helped them to put their lessons into practice but also gave them the opportunity to become inspired by and be connected with Inverness Town House and to become familiar with its heritage and importance to the city.”
Visual Communication lecturer Ken Gowans said: "This was truly a unique opportunity for the students, and I am incredibly proud that they have all risen to the challenge and produced some very professional designs that have been outstanding overall. Ryan's winning design is representative of the high standard of outputs of 91ÊÓƵÍø Inverness students, and it underlines our links with the wider community.”
